These funds are available to provide grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus. A student’s financial need may have increased based on recent events related to the coronavirus pandemic. Eligible expenses would include food, housing, technology, course materials, health care and child care.
Eastern Virginia Career College will distribute $142,239 equally and directly to students based on the number of applicants received that meet the qualifications with a maximum distribution of $1,000 per student. The payments will be sent to students via check to their address on record. The College’s goal is to ensure funds are distributed as widely as possible; therefore, funds will be distributed to all eligible students evenly. However, eligible students may only receive up to the maximum allowed payment of $1,000.

As of the October 15, 2020 deadline: EVCC notified 172 students that met eligibility requirements for CARES funds.
